The Nature of Current Critique

Learning is a process of studying which needs time and attention to do that. It takes a long time to have a good learner. Besides, they also have a lot of teachers to facilitate the learners to be so. The students learn because they have something to achieve in their life. Learning and test have a connection one another, as we know test is a method of measuring someone’s ability or knowledge. They know and aware of their capability through the test. According to high-stakes test, there are many consequence of this test. Begin with the work of Smith and Rottenberg (1991) in critiques of high stakes testing that published in Educational Measurement : they identified six effect of external testing and one of them is “Neglect of teaching material not covered by test.” It means the students study just for a test. The way i see is that is not effective to study the material not covered by test. Let say it depends on the purpose of students itself. Do they study for the test or for having more knowledge. In my opinion, a test does not guarantee your life. What guarantee your life  is the knowledge that you have, not merely present in the test but outside as well.

Some solid evidence is available to refute a few of the most commonly encountered criticism of high-stakes tests. For instance, with changes in content standards and test construction practices. Do not push too early in students’ school years to answer the questions are too challenging. Give them the test based on their previous experience and if they can answer it easily, the teacher can raise the level of the questions based on their abilities.

Students language learning beliefs: correlation between learning strategies and final achievement

Introduction Every students has their uniqueness in learning language and it based on their beliefs. According to Cabarog lu and Roberts (2000, p.388) they defined beliefs as “a set of conceptual representation which signify to its holder a reality or given state of affairs of sufficient validity, thruth or trust wothness to warrant reliance upon it as a guide to personal thought and action”. However, there is no complete agreement on meaning and definition of beliefs, although the definition of this concept enjoys popularity in language learning research. Horwitz (1987) defined beliefs about language learning as language learners’ preconceived ideas or nations on variety of issues related to second or foreign language learning. for instance, some of them used to study language by using audio and the rest used to learn by audio-visual. It depend on students’ need and as the teacher they should provide them the best media to make an attractive learning. Therefore, the learners’ tho
